This year I will leave the UK and start wandering
I ride my Harley around the World pursuing the dreams of a lifetime, trying to help others to realise theirs
I believe that If we all would live our life with the constant intent to realise our dreams we would live in happiness
I also believe that Happiness is something each one of us deserves, should strive for and preserve
After a long time preaching this concept I decided that it was time for me to ‘live by example’.
This project begins trying to shape up a new style of life for myself, a nomadic life that focuses on the realisation of small and big dreams and desires of mines that I have grown inside for a long time.
Many people has helped me in a million of different ways whenever I lost focus on my dreams, when my happiness has been at stake, it could have been a smile, the right words at the right time, a nice gesture, a good advise when I had doubts or just ‘telling me off’ when I was doing the wrong thing. I’ve been very lucky to receive this kind of support.
What if I could do the same for someone else?
To help a friend or even a stranger to live a happier life, one thing that I can certainly do is to testify with my journey that nothing is impossible if you really want it to happen, and as frequently as it’s possible I’ll try to take with me anyone that wants to join me on the road.
With this project I want to learn new things, make things, learn how to express myself in as many forms that I can master and return all of this in teaching one day. I’ll try to improve myself and become a better person.
If I won’t achieve all of those ambitious targets, what matters is that I will have lived every single instant of my life in the pursuit of happiness.
This is what The Journey of Dreams is all about.
The space on my motorbike is limited, if I take something I should leave behind something… but almost everything I already have is essential, and I won’t throw anything that can still be of use. At the most I will gift you some when I don’t need it anymore.
Everything that passes in my hands is never of single use, I cannot afford to waste money, so I try to find multiple uses for a single item, Plus I love the environment and I try to never leave anything behind. I always try to repurpose everything.
Do whatever I always dreamt to do in my life. Say no more, that’s why I started this project. To actually DO things.
One of the reasons to be wandering around the world is to augment my relations with other people, and live the ‘human experience’ at every occasion that shows up.
I believe it comes as a consequence of the above factors all together, which create the adventures you will soon or later laugh about with your friends.
I try to give everything I can, and to gift anything that is no more essential but may make a difference to someone else, because any gesture, object and word left to another human is a seed for a friendship and for a better world. It’s also to testify that we are not owned to the things that belongs to us and to show others that giving is the most powerful fuel for happiness.
We need to teach ourselves to accept more from others and to ask when in need.
This is essential for the purpose to GIVE MORE. If no one is ready to take, no one will have the chance to give. We are all very generous, but we are all very scared to accept gifts, random acts of kindness, or simply a nice word from a stranger. That’s just a bad habit we should ditch at the speed of light to give others the opportunity to give.
Sharing is Caring.
What’s the joy of owning something beautiful, of being happy, of having the opportunity to do awesome things or being in an awesome place if we cannot share it with the people we love, or with a complete stranger that could become our best friends.
We give ourselves infinite chances every time we perform “random act of sharing”.
This is Marco, I go by the ‘road name’ of ‘COBRA 2’.
I was born in 1981 and I lived my youth in Forlì (Emilia-Romagna, Italy).
As a student I moved to Bologna to pursue a career in computer science and after living there for about 7 years, I finally moved to London where I spent the last 6 years, until November the 6th 2014, before this project begun.
I am an IT professional, I have a strong background as a System Administrator and recently I got a new position as a DevOps Engineer that I can perform “on the road” for a very cool British company called Session Digital Ltd (part of the Inviqa group)
My passions are riding my motorcycle, diving, cooking and DIY, philosophy and of course travelling.
I have tried and loved many other things like playing the guitar, windsurfing, kayaking, riding a sport bike, Raspberry-Pi hacking and much more.
I am interested in learning, I love to meet people. I try to stay curious.
and this is how I’m turning into a Modern Nomad (or Digital Nomad if you prefer)
On November the 6th 2014 I started traveling, the journey around the world will be one, but not the only one, of the challenges of The Journey Of Dreams. I’m taking it slowly, I try to enjoy the most of the places where I’ll be living or just visiting. Year 1, Europe. Year 2… to be defined, probably Americas.
What is driving me in this project is the need to change the paradigm of my every-day life style.
The routine home-work-entertainment-home kind of life doesn’t apply to me anymore.
I love my job, but it takes too much of my day time and at the end of a day spend at the office I feel frustrated for not having enough energies and time left to pursuit my dreams and passions.
When the week-end comes the strongest thought and desire is to stay home and recover energies, on top of that, lies the strong worry about avoiding any intense activity that would take me exhausted to the beginning of the following week as I feel the pressure to perform well at work.
I coped with this for too long now.
I am not the first person and there never will be a last one that has taken an action about it, now that my turn has come I want to do something meaningful with my life.
I am very fortunate as I hoId a job that can be performed from anywhere there’s an internet connection, meaning that on my wandering around the world will work as usual for my employer, but just for a few days a week on a part-time basis. No more from an office in Central London, but from a coffee shop in Timbuktu or a cruise on the Great Barrier Reef.
I will have more time to develop my ideas, bring them around the globe and will finally have more time to be dedicated to other people and not only to myself.
